Franklin Hudman Obituary

Franklin “Lee” Hudman, 92 went to be with The Lord on February 9, 2024, in Cloudcroft, NM. He was born April 18, 1931, four miles south of Cloudcroft in Hudman Canyon (later known as Pierce Canyon when the Forest Service put up the signs). He was born to Jesse Earl Hudman and Bessie Arminda Scott Hudman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Earl Hudman and Bessie Arminda Scott Hudman; his brothers, Jessie Luther Hudman (Clotha Hudman), Aril Edward Hudman (Beverly Hudman), Emmitt Milton Hudman (Carolyn Hudman), William “Bill” Scott Hudman (Polly Hudman); his first wife of 50 years Janie Hudman; son Jerry Burke Hudman (infant); his sons-in-law, Jeff Nagy and Mark Mallard, and his daughter-in-law, Kay Hudman.

He is survived by his second wife, Michele Hudman; sister, Francis Parlee Young (Leland Young); his children, Paula Beth Boughton (Robert Boughton), Rebecca Jean Mallard, Robert Earl Hudman, Martha Sue Porter (Kenneth Porter), Timothy John Welch, and James Michael Welch; grandchildren, Nathan Boughton, Matthew Boughton, Jessie Deane, Bonnie Boughton, Jennifer Clemons, Tiffany Murtland, Brianna Hudman, Anne Burke, Bobbie Montoya, Benny Montoya, Teresa Nixon, Brandon Porter, Brian Porter, Bethany Franklin; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Lee served The Lord as a pastor for 40 years. The churches he pastored were: Lipscomb Community Church in Lipscomb, TX, Piñon Baptist Church in Piñon, NM, Sedan Baptist Church in Sedan, NM, Des Moines Baptist Church in Des Moines, NM, Betania Baptist Church in Raton, NM, Rosedale Baptist Church in Bellview, NM, Trinity Baptist Church in Lovington, NM, First Baptist Church Mountain Air in Mountain Air, NM, Clearwater Baptist Mission in Delta Junction, AK, and Reserve Baptist Church in Reserve, NM.

The funeral will be held at Mayhill Baptist Church in Mayhill, NM on February 16th at 1 PM preceded by visitation from 11 AM to 1 PM. There will be a graveside service at Lusk cemetery and a meal at the church following the graveside service.

Because of medical issues, please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Baptist Convention of New Mexico for Missions New Mexico.

The Hudman family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
