Carmen Virginia Guitard, 84, passed away on February 24, 2024 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on August 3, 1939 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Geronimo Torres Armijo and Emma Carrera Armijo.
Carmen was a wife, mother, big sister, aunt, grandma and great-grandma, and a good friend to so many loving friends. She was a devout Catholic Christian and taught many the love of the Holy Trinity. She and her husband, Ron, traveled to many parts of the US because of his management position. In all the eight states and cities they lived, four of her five children were born in separate states. After they moved back to El Paso she worked at KMart, then took an educational assistant job with the EPISD where she retired. She always volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Church, the Refugee Center and taught catechism and RCIC.
Carmen was so joyous, she is remembered by her great smile and elative laughter. Her smile was on her beautiful face when she took her walk to heaven with Jesus.
When she moved to Alamogordo she and her childhood friends made immediate contact and became close again. She also befriended many dear and loving friends at Our Lady of the Light Church food pantry and her church, Immaculate Conception Church, volunteering in all areas they needed her.
Survivors include her three sons, Ronald Guitard, Michael Guitard, and Steven Guitard; two daughters, Gina Shaddock and Veronica Widtfeld; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, Ron, Gina, Michael, Steven and Roni; and siblings Cissy Prewitt, Trish (David) Lozano, Dave (Carmen) Armijo, and Becky Mars.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Guitard, father, Geronimo Torres Armijo; mother, Emma Carrera; brothers, Jerry and Albert; grandson, Christian; niece, Emily Lozano; and nephew, Beto Mars.
The family will greet friends Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 700 Delaware, from 10:00 am to 12:00. Rosary will be prayed at 12:15 and Mass of Christian Burial held at 1:00 with Fr. Emmanuel Okoye officiating.
